Waco, Texas

Tell people a little about you and your background.
I've always considered myself an "athlete" while always feeling that no

matter what the sport was, I was going to do fairly well. I played all

the typical sports growing up but once I left high school it seemed

as if my days of competing were finished. I was never able to fill the void of wanting to compete in sports and push myself further than I thought I could go. Enter OCR! The second after finishing my first race I knew I had found what I was looking for. I moved down to Waco from Dallas around the time my brother and sister in law opened up their CrossFit box and the rest is history. It's not just me, it's a family affair when it comes to fitness. My wife and daughter are also very much involved in the sport and remember the name Jordyn Martinez. (My 12 yr old daughter and future OCR Elite athlete.)

First OCR or Mud Run Event?Share your thoughts of how you got into it, what got you hooked, and what your favorite thing is about it.
The first Mud Run was just that, a run through open pasture in some country little town in Texas. I believe it was called Filthy Souls Mud Run. My buddy talked me into it over drinks at our local establishment and I'm glad he did. It was a simple 5k through the mud and grass with very few obstacles and I nearly died. I'm very competitive so crossing the finish line and not being able to breathe I knew I had a long way to go.

Plans for 2017?
2016 was a great year having completed multiple races such as Spartan Race, Savage Race, BattleFrog, and Conquer the Gauntlet. In 2017 it will be all about reaching that podium and compete in more of the endurance type races. Ultra Beast 2017!!

Finishes or achievements you would like to share.
Considering my first OCR was a 5k through a field and having to walk more than half of it, finishing Spartan Beast in Breckenridge was a huge accomplishment. The fact that I'm on this page with other bad ass athletes is my biggest accomplishment by far. After finishing CTG Race I posted on my Instagram...Thank you to my future sponsors. Couldn't do it without you.

Your favorite obstacle
By far my favorite obstacles are the rigs. Anything to do with upper body and grip strength. I've just started getting into bouldering and rock climbing so in 2017 I'll be crushing those rigs.

Your least favorite obstacle
I consider the miles on miles the biggest and hardest obstacle. But as in everything it's what you like least that you should work on most.

Why you like DGEAROG and our gloves?
Most of my training comes from CrossFit and in CrossFit it is normal to have ripped up hands. It's also tough to train when you have a chunk of your hand missing. These are the first gloves I've had that can hold up to demands of OCR and CrossFit.

Other teams you are a part of or sponsorships that you'd like to share or tell about?
This is only the beginning for me and I'm proud to say that DGearOG is my first sponsorship. OCR is an individual sport but I couldn't do it without my Twin Bridges CrossFit family.
